1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Oikos Connect ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Oikos Connect website, applications, and services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Accounts & families

3. Eligibility & children

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account and accept these Terms. Children do not create their own accounts. A parent or guardian may add child profiles to their family; by doing so, you consent to the limited data practices described in our Privacy Policy (Children's Privacy) and the standalone Children's Privacy Notice, and confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for supervising your children's use of the Service.

4. Plans, fees & billing

Oikos Connect offers a free plan and paid options. Prices are shown at the point of purchase in U.S. dollars and may change with notice.

4.1 Free Household

The core single-household experience is free and does not require payment or a card.

4.2 Family Pack — one-time purchase

The Family Pack is a one-time fee that unlocks connecting with other families and joining groups and churches. Consistent with our model — local and mesh features are a one-time purchase; cloud and AI features are a subscription — the Family Pack is not a recurring charge. It applies to the family account that purchased it.

4.3 Oikos Plus — subscription

Oikos Plus is a recurring subscription billed monthly or annually, which unlocks cloud and AI features (such as Magic Import), additional storage, group creation, and more. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge your payment method on each renewal.

Automatic-renewal disclosures, stated plainly (as several states' auto-renewal laws require, and as we'd want anyway):

4.4 AI credits

Certain AI features consume a monthly allowance included with Plus. Additional credit packs may be purchased as one-time items; credits are consumed by AI actions and are not redeemable for cash.

4.5 Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. You agree to Stripe's terms as they apply to your transaction, and you are responsible for any taxes not collected by us.

5. Cancellation & refunds

You are always in control of your subscription. Manage or cancel Plus at any time from the billing portal in your account settings (powered by Stripe). Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep Plus features through the end of the period you already paid for.

The full policy — including step-by-step cancellation and refund instructions and the app-store purchase path — lives at our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. Community & church conduct (user content in shared spaces)

Oikos Connect includes shared spaces — connected families, groups, and churches — often centered on faith and family. When you post or comment in a space beyond your own household (prayer requests, comments, group posts), you agree to act with honesty, kindness, and respect befitting a faith community. In particular:

Group and church administrators and moderators may set additional expectations and may hide content, remove members, or moderate anonymous posts to keep their space safe. Content shared beyond your family is visible to that audience according to the privacy scope you choose; use good judgment about what you share and with whom. To report content that concerns you, use the in-app report option or email [email protected] — reports involving a child's safety are prioritized ahead of everything else. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or endanger others.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create in Oikos Connect — your events, lists, prayers, photos, and everything else. You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, back up, and display your content solely to operate the Service for you and the audiences you choose to share with. We do not claim ownership of your content and we do not sell it. You are responsible for the content you upload and for having the rights to share it.

9. Third-party services

The Service integrates optional third-party services, including Google Calendar, Stripe, OneSignal, and our AI provider. Your use of those integrations is also subject to those providers' terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, and connecting them is your choice.

10. Availability & changes

We work to keep the Service reliable, including offline support, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, or discontinue features. If we make a material adverse change to a paid feature you rely on, we'll aim to give reasonable notice.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Oikos Connect is an organization and encouragement tool; it is not a substitute for professional, medical, legal, financial, or spiritual advice, and it is not an emergency service. You are responsible for how you use the information in your family's account.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Oikos Connect and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its users, especially where a child's safety is at risk. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as content ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive. You may export your data before deleting your account.

14. Dispute resolution & arbitration

⚖️ Counsel review required. This section is drafted in the structure customary for US consumer apps (informal resolution → individual arbitration → class waiver, with small-claims and opt-out carve-outs) and must be adopted, modified, or rejected by legal counsel before launch. It is not in force while this document is marked DRAFT.

Talk to us first. Before any formal proceeding, you agree to give us a chance to resolve the issue informally: email [email protected] with a description of the dispute, and we'll work with you in good faith for 30 days.

Arbitration (draft posture). If we can't resolve it informally, you and Oikos Connect agree to resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court — meaning both sides waive the right to a jury trial. Exceptions that always remain available to you: (a) small-claims court for qualifying claims; and (b) injunctive relief for intellectual-property misuse. Class-action waiver: disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis and not consolidated with any other person's claims.

Your right to opt out. You may reject this arbitration provision entirely — without affecting any other part of these Terms or your service — by emailing [email protected] with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.

Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws in your place of residence; if you live somewhere that does not permit pre-dispute consumer arbitration agreements, this section does not apply to you.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [GOVERNING STATE — to be set by counsel], United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute not subject to arbitration will be resolved in the state or federal courts located there, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your place of residence. (Governing state and venue to be finalized by counsel before launch.)

16. Changes to these Terms & contact

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves or the law requires. We'll post the updated version here with a new date and version number and, for material changes, notify you in the app and by email before they take effect. Once out of draft, superseded versions will remain available at stable URLs. Continued use after a non-material update means you accept the revised Terms.
